Description
“Beach and Bone Mele” is a hand sculpted, one of a kind piece.
She has been sculpted with polymer clay, fired and painted with acrylic paints.
In Hawaiian, Mele is the word for Chant, Prayer or Song.
She is a Prayer for humanity; a chant for Peace; a Song of the soul.
This piece is embellished with many pieces & inspirations gathered on my walks in Hawaii…dried spider lily leaves, palm tree points, sea glass…her bodice is created from a palm frond…red seeds from a beautiful Hawaiian tree, along with the inspiration & beauty of bones for her headdress and wings.
All the natural elements have been cleaned, preserved and protected.
I am inspired by Nature and by bones. Bones speak of strength, foundation and pure, honest form.
I marvel at their shape and by using them, I honor their form.
In many spiritual traditions, bones symbolize the core essence of life, often associated with concepts of resurrection, ancestry, and the soul’s true nature.
