Pule

Description

“Pule” is a one of a kind, unique art sculpture.
She is hand sculpted with polymer clay, fired and hand painted.
Her wings are created with a resin clay and applied gold leaf.
To create her embellishments, I drew from my collection of vintage and antique beaded pieces. I am so inspired by these little bits of history….Who made this beautiful beadwork?…What was their life like? What ball did this piece of trim attend?

I like to think that by using and preserving these bits of fabric and trim I am honoring them and bringing them to life again.

In Hawaiian, “Pule” is the word for Blessing, Grace…to Pray.
Inspired by the beauty of the islands, this piece is a homage to the lush green of the valleys and the secrets they hold. She speaks of Grace and the deep magic that is carried on the breeze.
