I have been collecting bits and pieces of antique fabric, trims and embellishments for the past 50 years. Back in the 80’s and 90’s it was fairly easy to find these exquisite handmade pieces taken from what must have been fabulous ball gowns. These pieces of history set my imagination dancing, wondering who wore this?…at what ball did this piece of beauty twirl?….if this piece could talk, what would it say? I really have to catch myself from hoarding these pieces because it’s very …
I love this quote and it’s so true! When I’m just enjoying the play of creating, it just seems to flow. When my mind mind is in control, trying to figure out what I “should” create, it feels heavy and hard. I think that is true in all parts of life…when I try to control or force an outcome, it never flows as it does when I prepare…. trust…..let it flow. Do you ever feel this way also?
Maryhoonies are gathering !
My granddaughter Blaize has been helping me with social media and it’s so fun to see her postings of my art…and the response has been exciting. We’ve just opened a shop on my website where I can post my original pieces. I do have my pieces in a darling little gallery on the North Shore of Oahu called Full Fathom Five, but until now, that was the only place anyone could see my creations. So I’m thrilled to be able to reach a larger audience. My store attached to …

I’m just in the process of setting it up…and I have to say it’s a lot to figure out but luckily I’m working with 2 women who know what they’re doing. Here’s a couple of pieces that will shortly be posted and available to purchase.Let me know if you have any questions or thoughts. Stay Magical!
“I have arrived. I am home” Rumi
Back in Kawela Bay. It’s pretty amazing to be able to spend time in such different environments…Northern California and Oahu, Hawaii. The contrast is striking and always offers inspiration. Nature is strong and loud in Hawaii. Vivid colors and hundreds of shades of blues and greens. Trade winds and bright flowering trees. The sound of waves rolling to shore. The songs of the trade winds rustling through the palm trees. Nature is never quiet here….She sings with a full throated chant and serenade. …
“Blooming”
We left the warmth and trade winds of Hawaii recently, to return to Sebastopol in Northern California. Spring is bursting out all over here …. plum blossoms, acaia flowers and daffodils. I’m back in my studio here….which brings me to share my newest painting. I love creating these collage pieces…it’s sort of like playing with paper dolls. Here are some photos of the process: I start with painting the figure or face…using acrylic paints. Then I paint flowers, leaves and such on newsprint paper…cut them out and glue onto the …
New Year 2024
I’m wishing for the New Year of 2024 to be one that welcomes the full appreciation of our amazing world. I think if I put my attention daily on a the exquisiteness of a flower…the amazing design of an insect…the total love and trust of a dog…the joy of a young child…. the promise of a sunrise….perhaps I can bring forth a practice of wonder. That’s my new years resolution. The shifting of a paradigm. Want to join me?
A Mana Orb….called “Lava Flow”
We’ve returned to Hawaii…and to our Kawela Bay. After a week of rain and chilly mornings, the sun has returned and the day was so beautiful. My perfect day ….a morning walk…time sitting on the beach…and then the afternoon in the studio, creating. Heaven. It’s inspiring to walk the beaches here and to come upon shells or coconut shards and then take them back to the studio so they can sing their song to me. Today I created a Mana Orb. Here in Hawaii, the meaning of the word Mana …
A Gathering of Minksies
When I came across a tiny skull of a mink and turned it on it’s side…. it transformed, through my eyes, into a charming faerie torso and thus a new community began. I love the unexpectedness of discovering the faerie torso… and the invitation/inspiration to bring forth a little fae… and so now there are many little “Minksies” out in the world. Each one a bit different. For some reason, I am fascinated with bones. If you go to the top of this page to my portfolio link and …
Asleep in a Leaf
I was on my morning walk when I noticed beautiful fallen leaves….curling into ….baby faerie beds, of course! I dried the leaves and painted them with a preservative. The little baby faes are sculpted in polymer clay, cured at 275 degrees…. painted and embellished with little wing appendages, antique wire netting and tiny Swaroski rhinestones. Baby Faes….asleep in their leaf beds. “Whatever lifts the corners of your mouth, trust that.” ~ Rumi Marilyn
